I made an upholstered headboard for our Cal King bed!
Here's the price breakdown:

GRAND TOTAL: $146
After reading this tutorial on Centsational Girl I was inspired to give this a go. I've been lusting over upholstered headboards for quite a while now like this one from West Elm or this one from Restoration Hardware, but I couldn't swallow the $500-$1500 price tag that came along with it. The best part...making this took 2 hours, and install was quick and easy after that.

So I have this list of ideas bouncing around in my head of projects I'd like to tackle. Just a couple for your reading pleasure...
1. Sew curtains for the bedroom. This will be my 3rd set since moving into our apartment and I'm sure B is rolling his eyes. This is the fabric I'm thinking about today - although it's probably the 5th one I've "thought about" in this iteration of curtain dreaming. The only specification from B is that they be blackout strength when his daytime sleep pattern resumes.
2. Find a bench for our patio. I gave away our current set last night to a lady who requested it through Freecycle. Freecycle is a fabulous little site that allows you to get and give away awesome stuff for free. I scored a Simplicity serger and a bunch of notions from a woman in Sunnyvale not too long ago and now I feel indebted to pass along things I no longer need.
3. Re-pot our hydrangeas because the soil isn't too great. I'd love to find some wine barrels to use for that on the cheap.
4.Paint the bedroom - this of course would have to come before the curtains because that fabric doesn't match the blue scheme we currently have going on. Finished! Our bedroom is now a beautiful Nantucket Gray by Benjamin Moore and I am at peace =)
5. Settle on a solution to our wine storage problem. Our apartment is short on storage space so all our wine is being stored vertically at the moment. I'd like to find an attractive horizontal solution that could be brought to a future home.
6. Paint B's old dresser for the bedroom. I'm shuffling between white, off-white, light gray and charcoal gray. Thoughts?

Just returned this weekend from the lovely wedding of CS, the final Corner Girl to get married. It was a truly beautiful event with every detail gorgeously accounted for. There was lace, there were oak trees, lanterns, a stone house and most importantly a beautiful bride and good-looking groom.
The funny thing about weddings is that they always seem to remind me of my own. Listening to the pastor's words, repeating them in my mind and remembering the smile on my husband's face. It was so delightful to witness these friends of mine wed on the same weekend as my 1st anniversary.
Here's to you CS and AM...“May the wind always be on your back and the sun upon your face and may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”

Greetings interwebs. I've been a reader for so long I thought it may be time for me to strike out as a writer.
I'm a new wife, I work for a living and someday I hope to work for my home and future kids instead. In the space between here and there I make to-do lists for my weekends and dream of projects to keep me busy. I have a husband whom I love to spoil with attempts at cooking and baking. According to him the results are 50/50. I dream of fixing up our future home and planting vegetable gardens. For now I will decorate our apartment and plant fuschias and azaleas on our patio to attract birds for our Kitty to stalk.
I'll leave you with a quote and a verse that sum me up fairly well.
